4. Overeating in the Evening
The body tends to process and tolerate glucose better during the morning hours than in the evening. The reason for this is because the natural clock of the body influences the levels of blood sugar. In fact, our biological clocks tend to greatly affect how our bodies process all foods, including sugars.
If you are diagnosed with diabetes it is not only about what you are eating, but when you are eating it as well. In fact, one study showed that consuming meals late in the evenings caused participants to see an average of a 17 percent hike in blood sugar levels in the morning.
It is important to note that blood sugar levels often surge during the early morning levels, typically between four to five am. Eating dinner at an earlier time in the evening hours could help people with diabetes avoid this surge in blood sugar levels in the mornings.
