5. Magnesium
While it’s not considered to be a cause for allodynia on its own, a lack of minerals in your diet can make many muscles and nerve-related conditions such as allodynia a lot worse.
Two of the minerals which are known for causing cramps and pain most frequently when you don’t have enough of them in your diet are magnesium and salt. Increase consumption of foods that are rich in either, or add these to your diet in the form of supplements instead.
Remember to be careful with both salt and magnesium if you have been diagnosed with any heart conditions or ones such as high blood pressure – an excess amount of magnesium is dangerous too and can increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
Ideally, you should see your doctor and monitor these conditions closely if you have been diagnosed or if there’s any risk of family history that you know of.
