6. Dry and Peeling Skin
Developing a rash isn’t the only way in which a rubella infection can affect your skin; the rash can also leave the skin feeling extremely tender to the touch, and the skin might start to dry out and peel as the rash and infection starts to clear up. The best thing to do in this case is still to leave the skin alone as much as possible in order to complete the healing process – doing anything like closing up the rash can only serve to create further problems with your skin, and picking at skin that’s meant to be healing can cause an entirely different infection.
Resist the urge to scratch dry and peeling skin. Instead, a warm bath with oats might bring some relief to the itching. If it still continues, then your doctor might be able to prescribe a skin cream that helps to relieve the itch and might make it clear up faster.
