4. Night Sweats
In TB patients, there are a lot of factors that can make it very difficult for them to get a good night of rest. With all of the coughing and the fever symptoms, it can already be hard to sleep. Another issue that makes this even worse for sufferers is the presence of night sweats.
As the name implies, this can cause intense sweating during the middle of the night, so severe that the patient might wake up. In that case, it is not uncommon to see their clothing, sheets, blanket, and even mattress completely drenched in sweat.
This problem is not only an indicative symptom; it also puts the patient at an increased risk of further illness. The fluids lost during intense night sweats can contribute to dehydration, making it difficult for the patient to continue to fight off the infection and feel better. Rehydration is key in these cases.
