5. Loss of Function
When inflammation is severe, it can cause a person to have a loss of function of parts of their body. For example, if you have an inflamed knee joint, it can be challenging to move it properly. You might not be able to walk until the swelling and pain subside. A respiratory infection can cause the lungs to swell. When this occurs, it can make it difficult to breathe.
A person might need to go to the hospital to receive oxygen if the inflammation of the lungs becomes severe. Both injuries and illnesses can cause a person to lose the function of different areas of the body. For those who suffer from chronic illnesses, chronic inflammation is also likely. Proper diagnosis and treatment can go a long way in helping a person get through these types of symptoms that are a result of a chronic illness.
