4. Autoimmune Disorders
Without our immune systems, we would likely not survive very long. We need that effective line of defense against disease and infections, otherwise, our bodies can be easily taken over by illnesses, which can lead to our death.
The fact that we are typically in general good health even though we are constantly surrounded by dangers says something amazing about how well our immune system really works. The immune system functions pretty well most of the time, but it is not perfect.
There are times when our immune systems may start working against us. When this occurs the immune system may attack our own body. This includes accumulating fluids. When this occurs it is known as an autoimmune disorder. This is one of the more common causes of pleural effusion. People suffering from autoimmune disorders often experience pleural effusion.
