5. Confusion is another symptom that occurs with encephalitis.
When you’re confused, you’ll get lost in places that used to be familiar to you. Confusion can happen at any age, especially with encephalitis. The brain is inflamed and is making you confused. It isn’t a good idea to be alone when you have this symptom because a stranger can lead you in the wrong direction and cause harm to you.
For instance, you may go to the public library every morning to read a book, but since you’re confused you don’t know where the library is. You can ask someone, but they don’t have to give you the right directions.
If the stranger notices or you tell him or her you’re confused, the person will take advantage of you. Supportive care is needed, along with medications. The confusion will remain in your body unless you are clear of encephalitis.
