Your joints are much more prone to developing synovitis due to the sheer amount of use they experience. The fingers, wrist, and ankles are just a few of the most common areas that are regularly afflicted with synovitis. People are on the move and using their joints from the moment they learn to crawl. Synovitis is common in the knee, wrist, and elbows for this reason alone.
If you work in a profession or have a hobby that uses repetitive motions, such as soccer, data entry, or working in a warehouse, the chances of developing synovitis increases exponentially. There are many other forms of repetitive stress that can lead to the development of synovitis, however, proper rest and supportive aids can help limit the damage.
Many patients who suffer from certain forms of arthritis are more prone to synovitis and should avoid habits, professions or hobbies that can trigger synovitis.
