5. Discomfort when swallowing
Discomfort when swallowing could be caused by a number of things. Sometimes it’s due to a tumor in the mouth or throat that grew due to oral cancer. In other cases, it might be an early sign of rabies — and that’s even more likely if the patient was recently bitten by a bat or stray dog.
While oral cancer and rabies are both serious diseases, it’s worth noting that difficulty swallowing could also be caused by adenocarcinoma. Not all cases of difficulty swallowing are due to adenocarcinoma, so you don’t have to panic. But getting yourself checked out is important so that you can find out what is causing it and treat it before your condition worsens.
Whether it’s due to rabis or adenocarcinoma, getting an early diagnosis will make the treatment more effective. If you were bitten by a dog and suspect it’s rabies, observe the health of the dog. If it starts to deteriorate, you likely have rabies.
