5. Pulmonary Embolism
A pulmonary embolism occurs when there is a blockage in one of the blood vessels that are in the lungs. Antiphospholipid syndrome creates blood clots in the body. These blood clots can appear anywhere at any time. A person suffering from a pulmonary embolism may experience pain in the upper back or chest, have difficulty breathing and may start to cough up blood.
A person may also have redness, swelling, and pain in one of the legs, usually near the calf. All of these things are symptoms of a blood clot, which is also referred to as deep vein thrombosis. These symptoms can be quite scary and the sign that something is deeply wrong inside of the body. It is important to make sure that you go to the emergency room right away if you are experiencing any of these types of symptoms as treatment for this must be done quickly or it can be life-threatening.
