3. Breathing Techniques
The symptoms of a panic attack are the same for everyone, even if they’re not on the autism spectrum. People who go through a panic attack might experience symptoms such as a tight chest, difficulty breathing, the onset of an asthma attack, feeling faint and a general feeling of fear and dread. They are common when experiencing any kind of social anxiety – and can be an absolutely terrifying thing to go through.
The best thing you can do if you are suffering from panic attacks is to learn to cope with them through manageable techniques you can do yourself: Just one of these techniques is breathing – slow your breathing down and your heart rare will slow down as a result, bringing the symptoms of a panic attack to a slow-down and allowing you to focus on the situation at hand.
If you find that your panic attacks aren’t helped by this, then you could have an underlying condition such as asthma – mention this to your doctor.
