It’s important that you get any sign of swollen ankles checked out immediately so that your doctor can refer you to the relevant specialists, especially if your doctor suspects that there might be other problems that need to be addressed. One of the symptoms that can cause your ankles to swell is that of water retention – but you should really take note if that is the case. You will note that you are feeling puffy, and water retention can also point to other things being wrong, including things like diabetes or existing problems with your heart.
