5. Cutting Down on Alcohol
Having a few drinks per week would likely classify you as a moderate drinker, and any less than this would classify you as a light drinker – but more than this, and you’re pushing the line where you might be drinking too much. Alcoholism and excessive alcohol consumption aren’t good for you, period. If you are at a point where you’re drinking too much, then your body will respond with conditions and symptoms – of which a lowered platelet count can be one.
If you have any other conditions that are causing a low platelet count, then drinking too much can only knock your immune system even further.
Because of this, you should consider cutting down if you are more than a moderate drinker and experience any adverse health effects as a result. Consider stopping the consumption of alcohol entirely should you start to show any of the symptoms that are associated with low platelet count.
