6. Hoarseness
Hoarseness is the official term that is used to describe irregular changes in the sound of your voice. Hoarseness could manifest in many ways. In some cases, the voice will sound raspy. Some people who have hoarseness will notice a change in pitch of their voice, whether higher or lower — sometimes even fluctuating between the two.
Rough, strained, or breathy voices are also caused by hoarseness. There are many things that could cause this, and most aren’t as severe as adenocarcinoma, but this type of cancer has been known to cause hoarseness — the reason being that it is hard for the lungs to supply enough oxygen when you speak if the tissue lining is covered in cancer cells.
Most of the time hoarseness isn’t caused by a serious disease, and will likely resolve itself within a few days. That said, it pays to get yourself checked just in case. If it does turn out to be adenocarcinoma, you’ll be glad that you got it diagnosed early.
