2. Coughing
Coughing is another symptom that those with pulmonary fibrosis have to deal with. Coughs that are caused by pulmonary fibrosis are often wet. Many patients have described the cough type as a “hacking” sensation. Exercise, laughter, and speech are three of the most common triggers for coughing in pulmonary fibrosis patients. That being said, there are actually some remedies that can be used to alleviate the symptom.
Drinking many fluids can help relieve the cough. A hot cup of tea containing honey can be especially effective at stopping the cough or at the very least reduce its severity. It’s important that you differentiate between coughing from pulmonary fibrosis and that of other diseases so that you can get the appropriate treatment. If you’re unsure as to what the root cause of this coughing is then you could go get an X-ray and/or CT scan to find out which underlying conditions are present.
