Drinking about 500 ml of water is a sufficient amount to help stretch out the stomach enough so that it sends fullness signals to the brain. It is important to note that water empties from the stomach quickly.
For this reason, it is best to make sure that you drink water as close to your meal as possible in order to feel full for longer.
