4. Connective tissue diseases have been known to cause Raynaud’s disease.
Some connective tissue diseases include lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. The diseases occur because there are hardening and scarring of the skin, which is also known as scleroderma.
These diseases are rare but can lead to Raynaud’s disease. With rheumatoid arthritis, it affects the hands and feet. Whenever a person comes in contact with anything cold, he or she has pain. People with rheumatoid arthritis get relief by using a heating pad. If it’s affecting their hands, they can wear heavy gloves and hand warmers.
With lupus, the pain can occur all over the body, but heat is still a good source to use to get some relief. Even during warm months, a person with a connective tissue disorder may need to wrap up warmly to keep from having any pain, such as wearing a sweater and possibly gloves and socks.
