3 Red Eyes
Red eyes are caused by blepharitis for a number of reasons. One is that blood is rushing to the area to try and encourage recovery and healing. This, in turn, is what causes the swelling and helps to combat any infection, but it is also what makes the eyes start to appear red.
A number of other factors can also contribute to this. One is that you may be rubbing your eyes. Even if you haven’t consciously noticed yourself doing this, you may be rubbing your eyes during the night, and this can lead you to wake with red eyes.
More likely, is that the condition has prevented your tear ducts from creating adequate amounts of tears, which in turn leads to ‘dry eye’. This makes the eyes appear red as well.
