3. Seeking Second Opinions
A person who is suffering from hypochondria has severe anxiety about becoming ill or being ill. When a person has hypochondria they are so convinced that something is wrong with them they simply will not believe it when tests come back perfectly normal. Since they do not believe that there is anything wrong with them, they may seek medical attention from many different providers.
When one doctor tells them that they are fine they simply do not believe them and will go to another doctor to talk about what is wrong with them and to get further tests conducted. One of the worst things about this is that a person suffering from hypochondria will often seek out a doctor online who will tell them what they have been waiting to hear.
If a person suffers from an actual illness, there is no harm in getting another opinion. However, if a person is going from doctor to doctor and finding nothing wrong, it is likely they have hypochondria.
