5. Enlargement of Organs
Amyloidosis causes proteins to lodge in the tissue, and while it’s not cancer, it can be associated with an increased risk of developing some types of cancers – and it can lead to some cancer-like symptoms. If you experience any of the symptoms on this list together with pain or discomfort, it warrants an appointment with your doctor and medical symptoms that you should never ignore.
The enlargement of organs can be one of the most dangerous symptoms of amyloidosis, and it can certainly be fatal especially in cases where it’s left untreated. It can be a hard-to-spot symptom from the outside, but might eventually lead to outward swelling; whether or not it can be seen with swelling, it will almost certainly cause pain and discomfort, and might even cause other issues like urinating blood.
If any organ enlargement is suspected, even where other symptoms aren’t seen, make an appointment with your doctor for the right tests as soon as possible.
